Add-on for your web browser · Made by Pingato · Effective 9 October 2026

Fix Bad io (FBadio) is an add-on for your web browser (a “browser extension”) that cleans ads and unwanted posts out of Facebook on your computer. This page explains what FBadio does, and doesn’t do, with anything about you.

In short

  • There’s no account to create and nothing to sign in to.
  • No tracking and no ads (no analytics or tracking pixels).
  • Your settings stay on your own computer.
  • FBadio only works on the Facebook website, and nowhere else.

What we collect

Nothing. FBadio doesn’t collect, send, or sell anything about you. It never sends the websites you visit, what you see on Facebook, or anything that could identify you to Pingato or to anyone else.

What stays on your computer

FBadio remembers your choices: which filters are on, whether matching posts are hidden, just marked, or left alone (Hide and Clean, Show and Tell or Let it Be), and where its button sits on the page. These are saved inside your web browser on your computer (in the browser’s extension storage, chrome.storage.local or the equivalent). They only leave your computer if you back up your browser.

Where FBadio works

FBadio only asks to work on the Facebook website (https://www.facebook.com/* and https://web.facebook.com/*), so it can hide or mark matching posts and show its button there. In this version it doesn’t work on Facebook’s mobile website (such as m.facebook.com).

What FBadio asks your browser for

When you add FBadio, your browser lists what it’s allowed to do (its “permissions”). Here’s why it needs each one:

  • Remember your settings (storage): saves your choices on this computer.
  • Find your Facebook tabs (tabs): so a change to your settings, or a new version of FBadio, takes effect in Facebook tabs you already have open, without you reloading them.
  • Add its filters to the page (scripting): puts FBadio’s filters back into open Facebook pages after FBadio updates itself.

The Mac app and updates

If you got the FBadio Mac app from fbad.io (the version checked and approved by Apple for download outside the App Store, a “notarized” app), it may check fbad.io now and then for a newer version (at fbad.io/mac/appcast.xml). That check can include which version of FBadio and of macOS you have. The Mac App Store version doesn’t do this, because the App Store handles its updates. Neither version sends anything from Facebook to fbad.io.

Children

FBadio isn’t made for children, and it doesn’t knowingly collect anything from children.

Changes

If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
